Essay Questions

Before we may fully accept you as an incoming student, we ask that you write an essay on one of the following topics. You will not be expected to complete an essay until one is requested by our office.

  • How do you think globalization affects the average high school graduate in 2008? How do you think globalization will be affecting them in 2012?

  • Of all the technological advances of the past five years, which do you think will ultimately be the most significant? Why?

  • What would you learn if you were the coffee pot in your high school teacher's lounge?

Your essay should be double-spaced, titled, in a standard-sized font (10 or 12 point), and at least 500 words long. Be creative, but be precise. Support your argument academically and logically. This essay will help to better acquaint us with you as a student, learner, thinker, and individual. These questions were composed by the Honors Student Academic Advisory Committee, a body comprised totally of Honors students. Members of the Honors Staff will read your essay. You will be notified if it is approved; if it is you will be fully accepted into the Honors College.
