WVU's Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is sponsoring this event on Friday Feb 12th from 6-10 pm in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. The goal is to have a stress-relieving, fun-filled night in a safe environment around Valentine's Day, before midterm exams begin. Students are educated on how to deal with issues women face on campus and in their careers, in addition to empowering them. This event begins with an activities fair that offers a number of empowering activities sponsored by partnering WVU student organizations. Informational displays enlightening the attendees of campus resources available to all students (such as WellWVU) will be on exhibit. These displays often promote healthy lifestyles, sexual assault and domestic violence prevention, and depression support services.
Our event also includes local guest speakers of high influence: Spenser Wempe (who is a recent WVU grad, Miss West Virginia 2011, and a survivor of violence and rape) and Jessica Barclay (from WVU Career Services). We also have appearances scheduled with notable people from across campus such as The Mountaineer.
