The Africana Studies Program is very excited to host Dr. Crystal R. Sanders from Penn State University, where she holds positions in the Departments of History and Africana Studies and specializes in the Mississippi Civil Rights Movement/Freedom Struggle. Her talk, "Cookies, Crayons, and Black Power: Head Start in the Magnolia State” will focus largely on disempowered women domestic workers and sharecroppers who fought state-level white supremacists in an effort to bring educational justice to their communities. Please join us on April 12, 2016 in Ming Hsieh Hall, G21 at 7:30 pm. Check out the flyer for more details about this event.
