Mountainlair Programming & Special Events Week of Feb 13th

Mountainlair Programming & Special Events for all WVU students February 12th-16th, 2017.  Take a study break and join in the fun.

·         February 12th thru 16th:

-          WVU Employee Bowling Tournament

Presented by Mountainlair (Games Area)

Trophies awarded to the top five teams and individuals. Cost is $30 per team of four …this includes three games per person and shoe rental. All bowlers will be eligible for a free bowling ball in a random drawing.  To sign up a team or to ask questions, please email Bryan.Denis@mail.wvu.edu or call the Mountainlair Games Area at 304-293-2206.

·         Monday, February 13th:

-          The Night Before Valentine’s Day!

Presented by the Student Events Board

The Night Before Valentine’s Day will be the big kick-off event for the newly-formed student organization, the WVU Student Events Board.  The event will include:  Ice Skating, Kettle Corn, Chocolate fountain, swing dancing, and much more.

Time:  6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Location: Mountainlair Green

 

·         Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 14th:

-          Cupid’s Corner

Presented by Mountainlair (JACS)

Cupid knows how busy you are, so he’ll come to you on campus with sweet treats for your Valentine.  Cupid’s Corner will be conveniently located in front of JACS. We’ll have cakes, candies, cards, balloons, stuffed animals, and other assorted Valentine's Day items for sale (by cash/debi).  If you want to pre-order your own personalized items, please email Lucille.Cassino@mail.wvu.edu by Thursday, February 9th .

-          The Vagina Monologues

Presented by the Office of Multicultural Programs and Mariana Matthews, WVU Title IX/Peer Advocate Program for Sexual Assault Prevention.

A series of monologues regarding various aspects of feminine experience, empowerment, and individuality. 

Time:  11:30 am - 1:30 pm

·         Thursday, February 16th: 

-          Selma

Presented by the Office of Multicultural Programs and Professor Daniel Brewster, WVU Department of Sociology and Anthropology

A discussion about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s march on Selma, Alabama, to gain equal voting rights for African-Americans.

-          Mountaineer Movie Night 

Presented by WVUp All Night and the WVU Film Club

This enjoyable evening will showcase a collection of short films created by members of the WVU Film Club.

Time:  10:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Friday, February 17th:

-          Lifetime And a Day

Presented by the Office of Multicultural Programs and Hadis Sabzi, Instructor, WVU IEP & TESOL graduate student

This program showcases the problem of addiction and its effects on the Iranian people. 

Time:  11:30 am till 1:30 pm

·         Friday, February 17th: 

-          Casino Night

Presented by WVUp All Night 

To coincide with WVUp All Night’s “Take A Chance Weekend”, Casino Night will offer students the opportunity to try their hands at the roulette wheel, black jack, craps, or non-betting poker.  No money is involved but the students can win awesome prizes.    Did we say awesome prizes ….. COME OUT AND TAKE A CHANCE FOR THE AWESOME PRIZES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
