The Honors College at West Virginia University has, over the last 10 years since the development and implementation of the last Strategic Plan, evolved from an Honors Program to an Honors College meeting the National Collegiate Honors Council’s criteria for a fully developed Honors College. It has grown significantly in size and now incorporates a well developed Living/Learning community in the Honors Hall for First-Year Students. Its professional members are active in research associated with Honors Education and serve on national committees.
As the Honors College moves forward in the second decade of the 21st century it faces, as does the rest of the University, the opportunities and challenges of a changing educational landscape, uncertain economic conditions, and a world with increasing mobility and cultural interchange. This strategic plan is grounded in both the fundamental mission and vision of Honors Education at WVU and the strategic view of the Institution itself as laid out in the 2020 Plan.
