In the WVU Honors College, experiential learning is the idea of 'learning by doing' through designing and implementing a project over three to four semesters.

Several key components of effective experiential learning include:
  • Carefully selected experiences or projects supported by reflection, critical thinking and action.
  • Providing opportunities for students to take initiative, be decision makers and be accountable for results.
  • Promoting curiosity, problem solving and creativity.
