West Virginia University has announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, May commencement will be moved online May 16, with diplomas mailed out shortly after. May 2020 graduates will also be given the opportunity to return to campus for a special commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 19.
The Honors College is currently making plans for how we will celebrate Honors students' achievements as Honors Foundations, Dean's and Presidential Scholars. The Honors College will reach directly out to students with more information as it becomes available.
Graduating seniors in the Honors College are invited to attend the Honors College Medallion Ceremony. This ceremony recognizes students for the achievement of successfully completing the requirements of the Honors College.
At the ceremony, graduating seniors receive the Honors College medallion, symbolizing the extraordinary accomplishments they have made during their time at West Virginia University. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Students should wear their gold graduation gowns for the ceremony, but should not wear their graduation caps. Students will be receiving medallions, and will not be able to fit them over caps.
Please dress professionally under your graduation gown for the ceremony.
Clear Bag Policy
To provide a safer environment for guests and to ease entry into event venues, a
Clear Bag Policy has been implemented for all commencement ceremonies, beginning
in December 2019. The Honors College Medallion Ceremony will also follow this policy.

See below for bags that will be permitted at the event. Guests with prohibited bags or food/beverages cannot enter. Please note: exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at an assigned designated gate.
If for some reason you are unable to attend the ceremony, please stop by the Honors College Office prior to graduation to pick up your medallion.
