The Honors Residence Hall is inhabited by future scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, musicians, philosophers, writers, athletes, soldiers, adventures, and dreamers who have many awesome experiences and tales to share. Each semester, we invite select academically skilled high school students from all over the United States to explore your world during Overnight Experiences.
We need students to host/mentor the high school students who spend the night in the Honors Residence Hall. This will mean spending a few hours during the afternoon/evening getting to know the student, taking the student to dinner (they are expected to bring money for their expenses), allowing them to spend the night in your room, and taking the student to class with you the next day.
Students who participated in similar programs in the past have had a wonderful time and made great friends. In fact, some of our current first year students came to visit last year during an Open House and Overnight Experience and made friends before they arrived this year!
We provide inflatable air mattresses for the high school students to use while they are guests in the Honors Residence Hall.
If you are interested, complete the attached application here and return it to Colleen Good in the Honors College office. The application is simple and will only take a few minutes. If you are selected, we will contact you with additional information. Selection is based upon your major, your class schedule, and the participant’s current interests.
