Honors Book Studies for Spring 2017

There will be two full-semester Book Studies offered to Honors College students starting January 9th. Students will earn 1 Honors credit hour with successful completion of the course. Registration is open now.

1.) HONR 293C Book Study: The Art of Power (CRN #18877) - led by Dean Kenneth Blemings based on the book Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power by Jon Meacham. The small class will meet in the Honors Hall RFL Apartment on Tuesdays from 4-5:15 pm starting January 10th.

2.) HONR 293B Book Study: Where Colleges Fail (CRN #18876) - led by Professors David Hauser and Lynne Cossman. See the syllabus for details. The course will be based on the three books:

  • Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses by Richard Arum and Josipa Roksa 
  • Paying for the Party: How College Maintains Inequality by Elizabeth Armstrong
  • Party School: Crime, Campus, and Community by Karen Weiss 

The small class will meet on Mondays from 6:30-7:45 pm in Woodburn Hall Rm 306E.
