Earning Honors Credit Over the Summer

Remember to contact the Honors College Office to get pre-approval to earn Honors credits for Internships, Study Abroad, Independent Study, and Undergraduate Research.

Honors courses aren’t the only way you can earn Honors credit!  The following opportunities are also eligible to be enhanced for Honors credit. Follow these links for guidelines.

  • Internships under both departmental course numbers (e.g. PSYC 491) or HONR 491 are eligible to count as Honors credit, provided that students complete specific components for Honors credit.
  • Any credit-bearing Study Abroad experience can be modified with a journal or blog and a reflective paper on your experience.
  • Independent studies or undergraduate research opportunities can earn credit in your home department, or you can register for HONR credits.

Questions about any of these opportunities?  Contact Associate Dean, Dr. Claycomb at or call the office at 304-293-2100.
