STEM Ambassador Positions Available In Summer 2017

WVU Stem Ambassadors act as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) instructors and camp/cabin counselors during 4-H summer camps and events across the state of West Virginia. Given training and materials, ambassadors travel throughout the state during the time frame of May 21, 2017 to August 11, 2017 and deliver pre-arranged STEM curriculum in a variety of settings. Events may include county 4-H day or overnight camps, summer youth program sites, state 4-H camps located at Jackson’s Mill in Jane Lew, WV, the West Virginia State Fair located in Lewisburg, WV, and State 4-H Days on the WVU campus in Morgantown. Room and board is provided while on assignment at camp, but ambassadors must be able to provide their own transportation to locations across West Virginia. Ambassadors will have the opportunity to work up to 30 days during the May 21 through August 11, 2017 timeframe with additional opportunities possible based on need and availability.

WV Supreme Court Hearing Cases at WVU College of Law

The five justices of the WV Supreme Court of Appeals will be hearing three cases at the College of Law on February 28th starting at 10 am. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating begins at 9 am in the Marlyn E. Lugar Courtroom.  Business attire is expected and backpacks/book bags are not allowed in the courtroom. Visitors must exit the courtroom between cases to avoid disruption.

Gold & Blue Student Ambassadors is an organization that works in conjunction with the University Events Office at West Virginia University. They also assist at famous speaker events, honorary ceremonies, and you can find them behind-the-scenes as thousands of students take their walk across the stage at WVU's graduation. Seeking Black or African American individuals for research participation

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted through the Department of Psychology at West Virginia University (WVU). The purpose of this project is to assess social and physiological factors that may be related to anxiety outcomes by race. Participants will be asked to think of personal worrisome topics and complete a questionnaire about life experiences and attitudes toward mental illness. Participants will also be asked to provide a saliva sample and to wear a heart rate monitor while thinking of personal worrisome topics.  The session should take no more than two hours.  Participants will receive $20 compensation or 2 hours of extra credit in participating psychology courses for their time and participation. Approval of this research is on file with the WVU Institutional Review Board.
