Are you a student planning on studying abroad this summer? Check out this list of helpful tips from the Office of Global Affairs
for before and during your travels.
Students studying abroad to earn internship/course credit, should contact the Education Abroad Office
to see if there is any required paperwork—including travel registration.
Students studying abroad and not receiving WVU course credit should still register their travel at the Office of Global Affairs travel registration website
using the “Employee” link. This will indicate that the student will not be traveling with a faculty member. This applies to students who will be working/doing research abroad this summer, even if they are not being supervised by any WVU faculty/staff. This allows WVU to know where students are and promptly respond to current events that could impact a student’s location/experience.
WVU works with the service provider International SOS for 24/7 emergency services. Students should be sure to call 1-215-942-8478 first in an emergency situation (including medical concerns and safety/travel issues). Use WVU’s membership number, 11BCAS589741.
The WVU Office of Global Affairs has a 24/7 emergency number, 1-304-293-9456, and it can be used when an issue cannot wait until normal business hours. Please note this number's use should be limited to true emergencies, not paperwork or technology issues.
For day-to-day issues, please call the Office of Global Affairs during regular business hours at 1-304-293-6112.
