Women Beyond Bars Event April 20 - CANCELLED

This event has been cancelled in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is being done in line with state and University precautionary actions made to mitigate the community risk of spread of COVID-19. When the event is rescheduled, we will reach out at that time.

Students are invited to join the Honors College for the  Women Beyond Bars Simulation, an opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of someone who has just been released from prison.

What would it be like to try to return to normal life after being released from prison? What challenges would you face? What resources would be there to help you, and what would the barriers be?

Participating students will be assigned a role, and will live out one "month" over the course of the 1.5-hour simulation, trying to make it on the outside, securing food, housing and a job, all while trying to keep in compliance with probation rules. Throughout the simulation, participants will debrief and reflect on their experiences.
