Recent graduate Oriana Ovide knew the Honors College was right for her from her first tour of WVU, with the great access to academic resources and tight-knit community. Oriana pursued experiences in undergraduate research from the beginning of her time at WVU, researching with WVU’s Summer Undergraduate Research Experience, presenting at a conference with her research group junior year, and spending as summer researching with the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD after being awarded a prestigious NSF summer research fellowship.
Today, Oriana still works with the same research group from her junior year, but now as a master’s student in forensic science. Oriana plans utilize her research experiences to one day become a drug analyst or tracer in a forensics lab or to hold a government position where she can apply her knowledge outside of the lab.
