Honors Student Workers Wanted

The Honors College is seeking to fill three communications student worker positions for Spring 2022: Social Media, Honors Website, and Honors Newsletters. These students will work with the Communications and Marketing team to tell the Honors College story. 

The positions will be between 10-12 hours a week during the academic year and are paid positions at a rate of $10.50 per hour. These are ideal positions for students majoring in journalism, communications, strategic communications or English who desire to build a professional portfolio of work, however students of all majors will be considered.

The social media student worker will be expected to generate content primarily for social media but will also support other projects as well. Currently the college has Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts that must be managed. The student can expect to write, create graphics using Canva or Adobe Suite, take photographs and videos, and occasionally help with events. 

The Honors newsletters student worker will assist with the Honors Weekly and Honors EXCEL newsletters, which are sent out weekly and biweekly during the academic year. The responsibilities of this position include: collecting submitted posts as well as seeking out additional content of potential interest to our students, writing and editing posts for length and style, formatting posts using an email marketing platform, and scheduling the newsletters to send out each week. The student should be detail-oriented, know (very) basic HTML (or be willing to learn) and have great copy-editing skills.

The Honors website student worker will assist in the maintenance and updating of the Honors College website, at the direction of communications staff. The student should be detail-oriented, know (very) basic HTML (or be willing to learn) and have great copy-editing skills. Experience with CleanSlate is a plus. The student may also perform additional work drafting posts for the Honors College blog and managing the Honors College YouTube channel.
