What is Honors Advance?

Honors Advance is a 1-week intensive experience designed to help incoming Honors students more successfully transition to their first year at WVU, while earning 1 hour of Honors credit toward the 13 hours required to complete the Honors Foundation program.

When is Honors Advance?

It will be held Monday, June 23, to Saturday, June 28.

How much will Honors Advance cost?

The total cost for the program is approximately $548. This includes the $250 course fee to cover course and staff expenses, travel and admissions. Tuition has been waived for this course. The remaining amount of approximately $334 covers room and board at Lincoln Hall.

How Will We Pay for the Program?

The $250 course fee will be assessed to your WVU student account.You will pay WVU Conference Services directly for room and board.

Can We Use Financial Aid to Help Pay for the Program?

The only applicable financial aid will be student loans and Pell Grant money. To use either one, you must first complete and submit the 2024-2025 FAFSA. 

Where will I live During the Program?

You will share a double room in a suite in Lincoln Hall on Evansdale Campus. There are two double rooms in each suite, which includes its own bathroom. Two current Honors resident assistants will serve in the same capacity during Honors Advance.

What is the address for Lincoln Hall?

The street address is 1014 Rawley Ave, Morgantown, WV, 26505.

Is There a Registration Deadline?

Yes. It is June 1, 2025, or once the program has filled.

What will the Honors Advance course look like?

The course will have a theme for each day: Getting Around Morgantown and WVU; A Day in Class and Time to Study. The activities and assignments will help you learn and experience what life is like as a WVU and Honors student.

What else will we do during the program?

The Honors Advance experience will also include extra- and co-curricular activities chosen to help students become familiar with the opportunities and resources available to them as WVU students. These activities include trips with team building and problem-solving activities with Adventure WV and an evening drive to Coopers Rock.

What if I register for the program and discover I can't attend?

Please contact us at HonorsLLC@mail.wvu.edu as soon as possible and no later than June 1, 2025. That way we can open your spot to another interested student and make sure you are not charged for the program.
