Honors EXCEL students Jonathan Serushago, Liz Sexton, Pareera Uqaily and Matt Wright.

Jonathan Serushago
Major: Finance
Minor: Entrepreneurship
Project Title: Winnowed
Project Description: Winnowed is a communication app for students,
faculty, staff and alumni of universities. It combines existing technology
to simplify several aspects of project management and communication for a very
targeted audience.
Liz Sexton
Major: Accounting and Finance
Project Title: Modern Folklore West Virginia: Telling West Virginia's
Stories
Project Description: My Honors EXCEL project focuses on increasing
intergenerational connection through social media. I have interviewed senior citizens
and members from Generations Z and Alpha who have a significant connection to the
state of West Virginia. I try to showcase Appalachian culture, kind-hearted advice and
life experiences through storytelling on social media.
Pareera Uqaily
Major: Accounting and MIS
Minor: Business Data Analytics
Project Title: Power BI Visualizations: Data Driven WV
Project Description: While being a part of Data Driven West Virginia
(DDWV), an establishment promoting experiential learning in areas of business data
analytics and cybersecurity, I have had the honor of working with a regional bank
to create visualizations in Power BI using publicly available data to compare the
financial statements of the bank with its peers.
Matt Wright
Major: Finance
Project Title: Mind Your Business (Finances)
Project Description: This project is geared toward working with the
WVU Launch Lab in helping small business start ups and growing entrepreneurs to
manage their finances. I help individuals by working with several different
Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to get financial estimates for their businesses. I also
uses my knowledge and background in the financial sector to advise and answer any
questions that clients may have.
