Ashton Marra is a teaching assistant professor in the West Virginia University Reed College of Media, where she teaches television, writing and social media courses. She is the co-founder of Reporting on Addiction, a collaborative project of 100 Days in Appalachia, where she is the executive editor, and the Opioid Policy Institute, working to train professional and student journalists in solutions-focused storytelling and reporting methods that help break cycles of stigma often perpetuated through media coverage. She has spent more than a decade working as a professional journalist for both public media and commercial news outlets, with stories featured on NPR, PBS, Good Morning America and other national news outlets.
